  1. What Resources Are Available to Candidates and Test Sites?


  2. When Should Candidates Arrive To The Exam?

    Candidates should arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled testing time.

  3. Can Candidates Use Temporary Licenses, Permits, and Identifications?

    The NC Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) issues a paper certificate for temporary licenses, permits, and identifications that is valid for 60 days. This is a valid form of identification for the nurse aide and medication aide state-approved exams. 

    On the day of the exam, Candidates are not required to bring an expired form of identification along with the new temporary certificate.

  4. Can Candidates Use Expired Licenses?

    Per North Carolina Session Law 2025-47 (Senate Bill 391), Class C licenses (standard passenger vehicle licenses) expiring on or after July 1, 2025, will be accepted for two years beyond the printed expiration date. The NC Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) will allow this process until December 31, 2027. This does not apply to commercial driver licenses, or any licenses that are suspended, revoked, or cancelled. This does not apply to out of state licenses.

  5. Besides A Computer, What Other Equipment Is Needed On Exam Day?

    • Webcam is required for online exams.
    • Wired headset is required for oral exams.
    • Mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet (Apple or Android) to complete a 360-degree room scan for online exams. Candidates must download the free ExamRoom AI 360 app.
    • Analog watch with a sweeping second hand.

  6. Do Nurse Aide Evaluators Assist Candidates While They Are Performing the Skills Exam? 

    Nurse Aide Evaluators will have limited interaction with Candidates because it is a credentialing exam.

    Nurse Aide Evaluators will not respond to questions while Candidates are performing each skill.

    Nurse Aide Evaluators will not tell a Candidate whether they performed a skill or task correctly.

    Candidates may not receive help from anyone during the skills exam.

  7. What Should Candidates Do If They Have Technology Trouble While Taking The Exam?

    Candidates who are taking the exam and need technical support should call Credentia at 877-848-3926. 

    Credentia cannot trouble shoot or support problems with Internet connection because that service is provided by a different company such as AT&T or Spectrum. If a Candidate’s home-based Internet capability does not support the Credentia platform, then they should discuss testing options with their training program.

    Credentia cannot trouble shoot or support problems with equipment such as computer, tablet, headphones, webcam, smartphone, etc.
