Nursing Schools

Pursuant to G.S. § 90-171.38 and 21 NCAC Chapter 36, the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) regulates the schools of nursing which prepare individuals to practice nursing as registered and licensed practical nurses in North Carolina. Therefore, the NCBON has management responsibility for nursing school programs that meet the requirements for North Carolina state-approved Nurse Aide I training.

Individuals completing nurse aide training in a nursing school program must meet the same training requirements as other state-approved Nurse Aide I training programs in North Carolina.

Students currently in a nursing school program in North Carolina can register to take the North Carolina state-approved Nurse Aide I competency evaluation through their nursing school administration.
